We are so happy to announce that The Marici Fellowship Winter giving event was finally able to take place this past weekend after many delays due to Covid safety concerns. To make things as safe as possible we kept the amount of participants to a small group of core volunteers.
Prior to distribution we gathered together outside Sakya monastery to fill large bags with winter supplies such as socks, hats, gaiters, gloves, hand and toe warmers, water bottles, and snacks. We also had an assortment of Thermal Shirts, Flannels, Ladies Fleece pullovers, and bags of donated items from Sakya monastery members, and feminine Hygiene products as well. In all 180 bags filled and then divided up and distributed to three communities: the Woodland Park and Mercer Street Encampments, and the West Marginal Way Roadside RV community, along with other spots in that general area.
Each person we handed a bag to met us with a smile and heartfelt gratitude. And for us we are also grateful, having the opportunity to help others in a way that recognizes that we are all in this together. Although we were not able to interact with as many people and for as long as we would have liked, the connections we did make were very special and we look forward to going back to visit these communities in the very near future.
