Dana Garden Summer Harvest
Throughout the summer we were able to give donations of a variety of vegetables including Chard, Beets, onions, potatoes, zucchini, and cucumbers, to food banks in both North and South Seattle.
Along with combining donations with other Garden farmers to help provide a local Senior center with fresh vegetables.
We are happy to say we are not done yet!
September and October is harvest time! We will be harvesting the summer crops and incoming Winter squash. harvesting a bumper crop of green beans, Heirloom tomatoes, as well as beets, leeks and possibly carrots too!
The Marici Dana Garden was also able to share a fresh vegetable basket with a fellow sangha member who broke his leg. Our friend was unable to get around and was relying on friends to help with meals and a place to stay. The basket of fresh veggies was something that he was able to share with these wonderful friends/caregivers.
Reaching out to fellow sangha members whom, due to situations like our friend mentioned above, or covid crisis, whatever the reason may appreciate some fresh vegetables is something Marici Fellowship hopes to continue to include in our Garden outreach activities.
Check back for more on our progress. And in the mean time, take a look at some of the beautiful vegetables we shared with the Silvercrest Senior Center in Seattle.
