2023 Caring By Sharing Memories

We want to thank H.E. Avikrita Vajra Rinpoche for providing us another opportunity to go out and help those in need.

This weekend we put Compassion Into Action with the Marici Fellowship’s Caring By Sharing event. We closed out Marici’s 6th year of activities by first gathering together on Friday evening to prep bags full of items such as fruit, socks, hats, bandaids, antiseptic, flashlights, hats, water, warm under layers, fanny packs and other items that are needed.

We also prepped 170 burritos to be cooked the following day. The chaos of Friday’s packing and prepping is always a wonderful time to catch up with friends and do last minute trips to the store to make sure we have everything we need for the next day.

Saturday we loaded cars with over 200 bags, 300 bottles of water, 100 burritos, jackets, doughnuts, pizza, and 100 warm under-layers, then headed out to Westlake Center, Ballard, the University District, Seattle center, and Greenwood where we were warmly welcomed by people who were so happy to have a delicious, hot meal and these needed items. Another group of volunteers headed to the Mary Pilgrim Shelter where Marici provides a hot meal each month. They took 70 burritos lots of fruit, salad. Pizza and cookies.

The compassion Continued on Sunday where those attending Chenresig and special prayers upstairs were encouraged to take some of the extra 60 bags with them and pass out to people they see throughout their day.

So much gratitude to all the awesome volunteers, both new and old, who came together to laugh, cook, distribute and pull everything together to make this such an amazing weekend of Compassion In Action.
